Emeritus College assignment 1983
I am a Christian, loving, caring, person. I am the wife of a superb man – I often think I was so fortunate meeting and marrying him. I graduated college as a Math major, an English minor and with a teaching credential. I worked as an economic statistician prior to my marriage. After marriage I had six children (three girls and three boys) currently aged 33 to 20 years. I decided that it was important that I stay home and nurture the children. I spent those early years frustratingly known as Dr. Martini’s wife! These past few years I have begun to assert my place as “Elaine.”
I do worry that I have not used the talents God gave me. I have a high I.Q. But I do see the results of my abilities in people around me who use me as a confidant frequently. Perhaps they view me as a source of experience. In today’s world I might have been a psychologist, because throughout my lifetime people have used me to sound out their problems regarding divorce, abortion, etc.
I currently have six grandchildren, ages 11-2 (three boys and three girls). I find myself not babysitting grandchildren for any length of time by choice. I’m beginning to get into the Arts and Music. I’ve always liked sports. Sacrifice is a big part of my personality, to a fault.
Like many of my girlfriends, I’ve found that what we thought we wanted to be when we grew up is seldom realized. I married a wonderful man who happened to be a caring pediatrician and ended up raising six children. Now in retrospect I see that that required all my skills.
So who really knows what they will be when they grow up!
